Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation: Review, Swatches

Urban Decay's newest foundation called Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup ($38) promises not only weightless and invisible medium-full coverage but also a luminous demi-matte finish. Borrowing from BB creams, it seems more and more companies are adding skin care benefits to their base products and Urban Decay is no exception. Naked Skin contains Matrixyl 3000 (a powerful anti-wrinkle peptide), Lichiderm, Green Tea, and Sodium Hyaluronate.

I bought my bottle online, relying on swatches from various blogs and Urban Decays' own  foundation matching tool to find my shade. I'm guessing I'm currently about an NC30 and 4.0 is a spot on match.

Naked Skin has a very thin, runny consistency so I was surprised that I needed the smallest amount to achieve medium coverage. In the picture above, I applied one layer of foundation with my fingers on the right side of my face only. The finish is very, very close to undetectable and it does feel like nothing on the skin, similar if not identical to EL Invisible Fluid. It does blur pores quite well but doesn't do anything for textural issues. Is it buildable? Yes, but I think this will be easier to do if you have normal/combination/oily skin rather than dry. I found that it can look cakey in 2 seconds flat if I'm not careful.

I have no issues with longevity in foundations. I live in the desert so there is no humidity to break down my bases. But a recent trip to NYC where UD Naked Skin was the only foundation I used proved that it can withstand it. I did have to set it with powder but it held up amazingly well.

Bottom line: I wouldn't say it's 'holy grail', but it is very good. I definitely enjoyed it more when I was in New York because my skin was more normal than dry and the finish looked better.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

    1. That's kind of you to say, but my other cheek has a lot more redness that needs to be hidden :)

  3. You have lovely skin! I started testing Naked foundation yesterday! I haven't. Experimented with application methods, as I only have tried it with the beauty blender so far. I was surprised how well it held up for me in the heat and humidity!

  4. Wow it looks great on you! Has it given your skin any problems at all? If I recall you are quite sensitive skinned (as am I)!
